Library Board


The public library board was established in 1979 and consists of seven members appointed by the city council who have a genuine interest in the public library and the city and the surrounding community and improving the services of the same. Five of the members appointed by the city council shall be resident citizens and qualified voters of the city and two members shall be from the community surrounding the city and shall reside in either Parker or Tarrant County. The term of office is two years.

The Azle Library Board is an advisory board that:

  • Encourages the development of public libraries
  • Advises the City Council on the planning and operation of the public library, its needs and its progress
  • Develops and put into operation the rules and regulations of the public library
  • Recommends to the City Council policies and programs for the advancement of public libraries in general and the Azle Public Library in specific
  • Reviews the annual budget for the library prior to submission of the budget to the City Council
  • Cooperates with all other public and private groups in advancing the best interest of the public library
  • Makes recommendations to the City Council for the appointment of members to the board


The Library Board is scheduled to meet on the second Tuesday of each month at the Azle Memorial Library, 333 W. Main Street, Community Room at 1:00 p.m. . . . . with the exception of April, June, and December, where the Library Board does not meet on these three months. Meetings are open to the public.
