Children's Summer Reading Programs

Family Adventure Storytimes

Wednesdays in June & July at 10:30 AM in the Library Community Room
June 8, 15, 22, 29 & July 6, 13, 20
Join Miss Katie during the summer for special Family Adventure Story Times! These lively, engaging storytime experiences include stories, music, activities, and more! Aimed at younger audiences and their families.

Special Programs

Programs take place in the Library Community Room.

July 9 from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM - Mini Golf at the Library - Families are invited to this storybook miniature golf event. Registration is required. Call (817) 752-2682 to sign up for a time slot or visit Miss Katie at the Children's Desk
July 12 at 10:30 AM - Tumbling Fun! - (Ages 3-9) - Tumble, jump, and more at supervised stations sponsored by the Maverick All-Star Tumblers! 


Third Wednesday of every month at 4:30 pm
LEGOS are provided by the library for ALL AGES to build, create, and imagine! Complete a LEGO challenge using a challenge card or use your imagination and build something unique. Look for LEGO builds in the Children's Area the following week.

Family Movies

Saturday, July 23 at 1:30 PM - Addams Family 2 (PG)
Avoid the heat of summer with a cool family movie in the Library's Community Room! Free popcorn provided. All ages welcome, but children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. 

Children & Teen Popsicle Party in the Park

Friday, July 29 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Central Park Picnic Pavilion
Celebrate Summer Reading Success with a party in the park! There will be popsicles, a petting zoo, a DJ, and more! 
Any child or teen who registered for Summer Reading can attend however, popsicles will only be provided to those with a ticket. Earn a FREE ticket by registering for Summer Reading and reading at least 5 hours by July 25th.

Adult Summer Reading Programs

Cooking with Chef Julia

Thursday, July 7th at 6:00 PM in the Library Community Room
The kitchen is heating up with Chef Julia as she comes back to show us how to make Plant-Based Bowls. Samples will be provided. This program is geared toward adults and older teens (15+). 

Yoga with Better Living for Texans

Monday, July 11th at 11:00 AM in the Library Community Room
Join us for a 30-minute yoga session and a lesson on mindful eating that includes healthy recipes and snacks! Participants are encouraged to bring their own mat or towel. Water will be provided. This program is geared toward adults and older teens (15+). 

Main Street Book Club

Third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Library Community Room
Adults of all ages are welcome to attend and discuss the book selection for the month.

Adult Trivia & Prize Night

Thursday, July 28 from 6 PM to 8 PM in the Library Community Room
Participants of the Adult Summer Reading Club who read at least 5 hours are invited to attend our finale party which will include a fun, library-themed trivia game with LIVE raffle drawings, attendee door prizes, and tons of yummy food! This event is for adult participants, and we ask that children and teens remain at home due to space limitations.

THHSC Program Sign-Up Assistance

First Tuesday of every month from 1:00-4:00 PM 
A Benefit consultant will be available to help families sign up for SNAP/Food Stamps, CHIP, Children’s Medicaid, TANF, and any other Texas Health and Human Services Commission program.
