Household Hazardous Waste
Disposing Household Hazardous Waste
Household chemical wastes are sometimes disposed of improperly by people pouring them down the drain, onto the ground, into storm sewers, or putting them in the trash. Old paint, pesticides, used oil and other automotive fluids, household cleaners, solvents, batteries, and pesticides are all examples of household chemicals that could be hazardous to the environment if disposed of improperly.

Storm sewers in this area flow directly into creeks and rivers. So pouring waste into a storm sewer curb inlet is the same as pouring it directly into a neighborhood creek. It doesn't take much waste to harm a creek either. A single quart of used motor oil can pollute up to 250,000 gallons of water.

The City of Azle provides a disposal site for used oil and oil filters at the City's Vehicle Maintenance facility at 470 Denver Trail.

You may also dispose of your HHW at Community Waste Disposal's X-Treme Green Event. These events will be held as part of the city-wide clean ups in the spring and fall each year. 2017 event dates are May 6 and September 16.

Household hazardous waste includes:
•Paints, solvents and thinners
•Pool chemicals
•Garden fertilizers and pesticides
•Propane/helium tanks
•Automobile products and parts
