Duties and Responsibilities
The Azle Fire Department offers a full range of fire service capabilities to the City of Azle and parts of surrounding unincorporated Tarrant County through contract with the Tarrant County Emergency Services District. These duties include fire suppression, rescue, Haz-Mat, fire prevention, inspection services, Fire Code enforcement, investigation, and safety training.

In addition to fire duties, the Azle Fire Department also provides emergency medical services to the City of Azle and parts of the surrounding county areas. All shift personnel are trained as Paramedics and our ambulances are equipped with state of the art medical equipment.

Insurance Rating
A new insurance rating system took effect on January 1, 1998, known as the I.S.O. (Insurance Services Office) rating system. This replaces the former Key Rate system which determines homeowner insurance rates.

Departments are graded from 1-10 (ten being lowest). This score is made up of three areas:
  • Fire Protection (including personnel, stations, equipment, and training)
  • Communication (including number of dispatchers, equipment, training, and alarms)
  • Water Supply (supply, availability, testing)

Azle was given a score of six. Azle's ISO score impacts the fire insurance rates paid by the community. Lowering the City's ISO rating will decrease the insurance rates that Azle homeowners pay for fire insurance. Ratings can be lowered by upgrading any of these areas.
